My little one is in daycare now 5 days a week and is at what my dr. calls the "green nose" stage where he's catching everything. I've been sick now myself for two weeks with the latest cold.
Major sinus infection and constant nose bleeds no fun! What did you do with your little ones at this stage? Did you freak out and take them to the doctor at the first sign of a runny nose? Did you wait it out so they could build up their immune system?
We're hoping our "little dragon" (as we call my stepson since his name means dragon) will build up an immunity like his dad's...which means mom is stuck getting sick all the time since I have no immune system.

As long as it is not anything more serious than a cold and a sniffly nose, I wouldn't worry. Not that I have kids, but I tend to not over-worry much. I've found, personally, that going to the doctor with any kind of symptoms only comes down to them telling me to take some paracetemol and go to bed early. I've had ear-infections, something that was probably food poisoning and near-heatstroke; I walked away from those doctor's visits with very little help imo. (Apart from ear-medication that made me vomit, just before getting a massive nosebleed.)
I am of the opinion that if you feel okay about it, you should just let the kid build up some immunity. You'll see if it turns too nasty, and then you can always switch to antibiotics if they are proscribed. Other than that: a cold needs time, rest and just some lemon in hot water.
(Seriously, lemon in hot water, with some nice sweet honey. Honey is very very good.)
But if your immune system is not functioning so well, do get some help for yourself! Or just start drinking hot water with lemon as precaution. Might help too.

It got serious... for me at least baby still has a simple cough and runny nose, me my throat swelled up to the point I was having problems breathing. then I got sick sick. we had to leave the faire grounds I wasn't due to come back home until hours from now but I needed meds that no one had. seriously who doesn't have ibuprofen? I have to head back tomorrow, bet my worker's pass, come home move the baby's god mother into our place until she's able to afford a place on her own again... then monday I call to set up a dr appointment for wednesday. Michael's been on my case for the last several days about going to a doctor because its now going on 3 weeks of having a sore throat. Not only did my throat swell up tonight, my tongue is swelling up too past time for mommy to go to the doctor.

Yep, that is serious. Can you breath okay when you are laying down? if not, make sure you find a comfortable chair or sofa to sleep on, more upright.
Are you drinking warm drinks, or cold drinks? You may want to experiment with alternating, to soothe(warm) and to keep the swelling down (cold).
And yes, seeing a doctor sounds like a good idea. Better late...

thanks i was told my my doctor yesterday that I may have mono. I also have some bruising my doctor wants me to keep an eye on. My mom and i are very hard to bruise and when she had bruises that showed up after moving some desks the doctor had her rush over to the cancer center to start treating her for leukemia (of course this flag happened after they were already running her blood cell count.) So now I have to keep an eye on my bruises this is now my second cancer scare (they thought i had cervical cancer last year but it was negative) we also just got back from the dr's office for the baby who was throwing up last night and this morning, poor kiddo has his first ear infection. the good news thought boyfriend finally said we'll take him out of daycare to save us money (paying more than we do for rent each moth for daycare is killing our pocket books.) Michael also hates doing chores and has left so many chores un done around the house i'm picking up the slack today so I'll be quitting my job and being a full time stay at home mom again I'm happy with this decision!

*rolls eyes at men in general*
I now have mine trained to take out trash, though. And he makes us clean up the table before we go to bed, and he hoovers on the weekend. So, it is easier to forgive him little things he forgets. Or 'forgets' wink, wink. When you both work, you both clean up, I always say. I may have a little more home-time, but I also do a little more of the chores anyway!
I feel for the kid!! Ear infections are horrible! I have had quite a few painful things happen, including a dog bite, food poisoning and terribly painful ankle sprains... they pale in comparisson of an ear infection. *shudders* Just try and distract him, and if he has a crying bout, it actually helps when you rub over the ear.
Mono! I never thought of that. See, the boyfriend here has similar symptoms, where he can't breathe when he is laying down. They have tested his lungs, concluded it must be asthma (which he had as a child, and he says this is different) and his chest and back hurt. Anyway, they're going to run several tests on his lungs and his stomach. He has no fever though, even if he is always tired. I dunno.
I'm just happy when a doctor does a test and concludes something from that. Rather than 'oh, it must be this' guessing, where they dont do any tests at all.

I dont have a fever either. I can never be sure if my chest and back pains are new symptoms or old health issues flaring up. I was born with a slight heart mummer and I was born with a kyphosis of the spine both cause painful spasms or tightening from time to time.
dr says it most likely mono. i'm on antibiotics and so is the baby and we have to head out of town here in a few ours for mine and boyfriend's weekend jobs at the renaissance festival. our Lil dragon's antibiotic causes some massive diarrhea thought poor kid was soaked after his nap today I had to put him directly into the bathtub and scrub him down.

Little Dragon's meds make him motion sick apparently but now that we've restarted his system with a liquid diet and crackers he's handling food better today

Minty things always help settle my stomach after eating something that disagrees with me.
And I don't know whether to be sympathetic or happy for you, that it is not pregancy related.... Are you trying to get pregant?

i'm not trying to but each time this happens i get my hopes up last time i did get pregnant but miscarried after a month and that test turned out to actually be a partial positive read, but then the second was faulty, and i had weird symptoms....i thought i was pregnant but nope my cycle started today so its my endometriosis making me run around like a chicken with its head cut off. i'm now seriously considering getting a hysterectomy done. i can't deal with anymore false hope or loss.
